Damn you do crazy restoration work. Just outstanding sir!

What did you use to restore the miata's tan leather? And carpets you just used that spray on carpet foam cleaner?

This is better work than the 200 dollars I spent to detail and wax, seal my car.

Thanks HunterX, well sorry to burst your bubble but the seats were way too far gone, so I ended up replacing them with some like new ones I found on CL in Sacramento (picked them up last Friday).

For the carpets/mats I did the following:
-Packaging tape like a bikini wax to get the dog hair off the carpets
-Vacuumed using the dyson
-Used carpet foam cleaner with a stiff brush and wiped it all up with clean rags
-Used Spot Shot carpet stain remover on the real stubborn stuff
-Lots of elbow grease and patience!

For the rest of the car's interior I just used that crap they sell at alot of the gas stations where you go and pump your gas and some fool comes up to you trying to pitch their 'wonder foam' or whatever...my poor wife got suckered into buying it so I might as well use it. Worked ok on the door panels and plastic parts.

Ok so today I took the center console and stereo/air vents panel apart to give it a little makeover...

The black plastic was looking rather weathered/beaten a bit.

YAY...more uncovered nastiness, lucky me!

Took the opportunity to remove the eyeball vents and give them the old electrical tape 'fix'. Of course I didn't realize by putting tape on all the old worn felt pad parts woule immobilize the eyeball vent all together! It was a pain in the ass to loosen and remove it again...so I used small slits of electrical tape to add just a bit of extra resistance to the eyeballs. Works great now.

Removed and cleaned the hazard and pop up light buttons. Just a good time to clean out the bits while they're accessible.

All painted and reinstalled...plastic looks like new (again)

Oh and as a finishing touch a used $5 (courtesy of CL) MAZDA emblem to the rear end...especially since I hate seeing empty holes....

Thanks druzzz, hope I can just keep the Miata clean once I finish! :)

I'm still keeping my eyes open for some nice wheels, suspension, and maybe even a nicer exhaust. :)

Back to the projects...next up were those unsightly wiper arms black faded paint.

Solution: Remove the wiper refills, mask it with some spare tissue paper I had found earlier today, and some leftover plastic dip (aerosol) and 4 minutes worth of work! :)

Frustrated? Who's frustrated? I'm not the one coming on here saying stupid things about other's cars, and unless you failed to read my first post, this car was given to me FREE, as a gift. Plus I am confident with my manhood driving any car...unlike others! Plus I didn't realize a Miata was considered a sports car...but hey if you want to fool yourself that *just* because yours has a manual transmission it magically makes it some bad ass sports car, by all means, don't let me stop you. :)

Ok taking a break from some of the mental midgets comments, let me continue with more of the cleanup revival of this little ride.

After giving the wiper arms a quick refreshening I figured to start the trunk cleaning but didn't get too far before heading over to Santa Cruz (perfect top down weather for it today, that's for sure), so I at least cleaned up the trunk's underside.

Ok back at it today...back to the trunk painted surfaces.

The trunk lining well that's a pain in the ass. The dog hair is really STICKING to the felt lining. I'll have to go at it again with some more tape. :)

Thanks 95montego, but it's wasn't anything really. Just some time, patience, and some good old fashion elbow grease!

Hey Thanks for the compliment! But it's not too much patience...IF you space it out. I've been doing a little something to the car everyday after I get off work. That way it doesn't seem like it's a LONG process. Plus it's nice to see the before and after documented in pictures, which I know I take too many. :P

Never too many. I myself do the same. It's always nice to document your projects. :)

Almost? C'mon, bring it down here and let's clean that sucker! It's not like it's a big car!

Thanks by the way, I do love my cars so I try to keep them clean.

Just picked these up last weekend...just gotta figure out how to install them.
I posted a thread on the suspension section to see if anyone with experience can lend a hand :)

Ok so I'm not really a fan of the 14" Daisy wheels, and if some of you have noticed from my other car's pictures (CRX and 2-Door 510) I am a huge fan of the classic Panasport 8 spoke design (and before anyone says anything, none of my cars will EVER wear Rota/XXR/Konig, I'd rather run black steelies before those wheels). So I was excited to have scored a set of 15" Panasports at the San Jose Swap Meet two weekends ago.

So let the picture overload begin...

Here they are when I picked them up and loaded them in my CRX from the local swap meet 2 weeks ago!
Image
Image

Here's each wheel's condition before, they weren't in the greatest shape, definitely not ready for ANY of my cars, including my Miata!
Image

So I got a few quotes to get them beadblasted and powdercoated but they all couldn't do it until weeks from when I contacted them (cheaper places get well used apparently)

So I figured screw it, how hard can this be and I'd give it a go myself, so I tried the following in no particular order (not pictured here was the aircraft stripper as well):
Image
Image

All of these only succeeded at removing ONLY the top clearcoat:

So when those paint removers barely made scratch on the factory powder coating, I had to pull out the big guns (well big since I don't have access to a beadblasting machine)
