??TIME SERT Rental??

Postby azn53xwizflex » Tue Sep 03, 2013 1:02 pm

My 94 na 1.8 took a poop and I need to rethread one of the spark plugs. If anyone has a time sert tool lying around that I could borrow that would be awesome! Please let me know. Thanks!

I wouldn't personally Timesert a head in place. Since they use a cut seat for the insert, way too much chance of crap getting in the engine IMO. For an in-place repair I'd use the Helicoil spark plug thread kit (though I generally hate Helicoils, they make less chips on installation).

I've thought about that but the downside is it's not as reliable as a time sert and also the shavings can be vacuumed out. Having to tow my car if it fails later down the road would cost me a lot more if I was to heli coil it. Time sert seems like the moderate reasoning between spending too little and too much.
