Tire test results

Postby red5racing » Fri Nov 08, 2013 1:18 am

GRM track tested the latest crop of 205/50 15 super-street tires. Cutting to the chase:

1. Rival
2. ZII
3. RE11A
94R: no ABS, no PS, no AC, no OBDII, no TCS, no DSC, no ASC, no CC, no PDL, no PW. Just 225/50 Hoosier A6's

Rival is a very good tire and a lot more grippy than the Dunlop Star Specs, although I am comparing 225's to 205's.

Have a link? I'd be curious to see their reasoning.

No link yet AFAIK, only the print version. There was a lot of back and forth, looking at falloff, temps, cornering, braking etc. Test done by Andy Hollis on his One Lap super-CRX.

The basic test was 205/50's on 8's.

They tried the winning Rival's in a 225 on the 8's with no time difference, but the 225 on a 9 killed the 8.

The usual feedback on the Dunlop's - rewards low slip angles - so if you overdrive everywhere likean idiot (me) they won't be asforgiving as the other tires.

I'll be running 205's on a 6" rim, so I don't know how or if this is going to work,.

Would have liked to have seen the NT-01 in 225/45 on the 9's too...

Good point. At some point the TW200 superstreet tires might catch up with the NT01/RA1/R888, but I don't think they're there yet.
