I don't know if the 6-speeds are the same way, but the 5-speeds have two switches on the transmission - one for the reverse lights, and one that closes in neutral for the computer and for cruise control. Apparently the plugs can be interchanged, and then you get what you've got going on, which is reverse lights on in neutral. May want to check that out.

6-speed is the exact same, EXCEPT that the switches are on opposite sides, and the connectors are reversed. Normally, you just clip the connectors when the tranny is out of the car and switch them, and then plug it in like normal, but Nick's wiring down there isn't OEM though so it needs to be played with a bit.

A little update:
Image

Did a leak down test thanks to Bill & Andrew, Looks like ive got a bad ring in #1 and something leaking in #3 so i guess its time for a rebuild. Or possibly a build..

I picked up a block and managed to convince the seller to give it to me for 50 bucks total :o oh yea and he gave me a matching head as well for it!
Image

So my plans are still up in the air a bit. But what i think may happen is this:
oil pump gears (already purchased in group buy)
New ARP hardware all around
M tuned rods ( formally ETD)
M tuned coolant re route
Some kind of oil cooler with a 1.8 warmer for the room to get a sandwich plate in there.
Im probably going to do a little bit of headwork if i can get it done for a good price, however doing it myself may be an option as well.

Im looking to get 220-230whp after the "build" If i even decide to go that route. Im really looking for longevity, reliability, and being able to just start it beat the shit out of it and turn it off everyday without worrying one bit.

Those shades are only for people who are stoned because you cant see much through them.

The wheel is a nardi 330 deep corn (pronounced CONE rather than corn if im not mistaken)

correct. it's a poor translation that stuck.

cone and corn are pronounced the same in Japanese.

i thought it was the other way around. it's supposed to be cone due to the steering wheel deep cone effect. but japanese pronouncing everything the same way, ended up being written as corn.

reminds me of the starion...

So i went to by buddies house friday night to pick up an engine stand for the upcoming project and he gave me a used 1.6 that his friend blew a hole through the block somehow. So i started the teardown process with Turboeds used block that i snaged off craigslist a week or two ago.

Said free motor in the background :D

Dude..so I assume this engine will be a race tuned turbo engine? I have a spare 1.6L that I am going to build for turbo application. Maybe we can work together on this...are you in the East Bay area?

Jason, my plans are stated above but i would like it to be track savy basically. Im looking to get alot of power but even more reliability my plans are to do it right the first time. However this is a daily driven car so its not a full track motor.

Im on the "west bay"? I live in San Mateo
