Beater.

Postby TheOtherRedMiata » Sat Sep 15, 2018 7:33 pm

So, I've decided that in my current situation and for the next maybe year...two tops, that, a cheap, beater type car would be beneficial. Many to keep the miles off the truck.

I would like to hear some suggestions. The main parameters are: $2k...ish, manual trans, a car that was originally marketed to be fun(hot hatch, ecno sports car) and, most importantly, a car that I would normally not want. I really don't want to get into modding another car. I don't want to get another knowing in advance that I'll fall in love. Just cheap and fun...like Logan's mom.

I'll be flying down to LA next weekend to take a look...most likely buy a car. After talking to the guy for roughly 40 minutes, the car is clearly his baby.

I was gonna suggest a '78 Granada, but...

What did you find?

I've already owned a granada...they're not fun. Well, maybe if you roll it.

Of all things, I've found a 2002 Neon R/T. One owner car.

Let the Neon jokes commence.

Interesting car for someone to be attached to.

True that it seems old to get attached to a neon but, people were attached to their civics. He ordered it new. Had fun with it for 16 years and got attached. Seems reasonable to me.

The car is in Santa Clarita. If I get it, I'll be taking in on Angeles Crest immediately.

If you're looking for a cheap, reliable beater for the short term, I'd just suggest picking up a halfway decent Civic or Integra, slap some decent tires on it, have some fun in the hills, and don't buy a Dodge/Chrysler product.

But hey, your mother is a whore, so do what you want. I'll wave when I see you getting loaded onto a flatbed.

I have considered this. Given the $2k requirement, the only thing out there is; clapped out, salvaged titled 230k plus havin' pieces of shit.

I'll give you gas money for a lift...and 20 bucks for your mom
