I am not nearly as good as those guys, but have been doing some downhill biking with my brother and a buddy of mine for a little while. We will be headed up to northstar sometime during the last week of July, as well as climbing lovers leap.

Image

Link to some info on the climb, been preparing for the past 3 months and will continue to climb hard 3-4 times a week till July.

My dad has an old mt bike that i ride, no idea on the name. No shocks or anything like that, well be renting when we head up to Tahoe.

The route we generally do is from hwy 35 down to hwy 1, or waterdog lake.

I take offense to that.loljk

I ride anything

I think I may ditch the idea of building a full touring bike. And Build a single speed 29er,and shread that.I havent rode mountain bikes in a while. But when I did no one could keep up with me.

Damn nick climbing lovers leap, super dope!I hope to climb more this summer.Last summer all i did was some bouldering.

just watched that video, those guys have a clean explosive style. But nothing too crazy.

Northstar looks fun.

But no health insurance calls for very minimal fun for me. :|

I have a Specialized Stumpjumper I bought new in '05. Hardtail, adjustable Fox shock with a lockout, v-brakes. No need for a rear shock or disk brakes for me, it's just extra weight. Get a few things to make it fit you better (seat, bars, clipless pedals) and you are good to go for trails and street.

You really don't need anything extreme, you can get pretty crazy on a decent, light hardtail.

Yeah, for really rough stuff and things they do in that video you'd definitely need a rear shock and lots of travel in the front. As far as brands, pretty much all frames are made in the same factory -- by Giant.

i raced mountain bikes for 5 years all over the states and in canada. it was loads of fun. great people, great outdoors, and definitely the highlight of my life. i started with racing BMX, then got picked up by santacruz bikes and raced on their junior team for a few year. I wish i still raced, but i have no time with school and work =/

here are some pics from racing and the bikes i rode

It's about that time of year, I've been able to ride the last couple of weekends. I was kinda hoping it would dry up a bit this week, but that doesn't look likely. Things were a bit sloppy on Saturday, but with a few days of sun it would be just about perfect. Need to figure out what the logging situation is in demo, it's been WAY too long since I rode there... Last I heard one trail (tractor?) was closed and the parking lot was chained off.
It occurs to me that we should have put those stickers on something more permanent than a microwave...

I'm riding around on an old Klien Pulse with a New SID Team fork. Rode at Harvey Bear Park on Saturday, was gorgeous, and trail conditions were good (minus the cow pies).

I need to get back to riding with you guys again... I still need to source a front fork as well, so if you happen to come across anything, shoot me a heads up.
