Group buy/Interest in ITB adapter plate

Postby garageSTAR » Thu Apr 22, 2010 3:39 pm

I just got back from having lunch with Gabe at Techno Toy tuning. Gabe said he would create a adapter plate just like they make for the 4AG but for 1.6 and 1.8 motors. We need 20 1.6 and 20 1.8 people interested in either purchasing at the group buy rate or purchasing it in the future. The adapter plate will use AE101 Silvertop 20v ITB's. As most of us know Techno Toy Tuning has been around for a long time now and builds various parts for the Datsun 510, 240z, AE86 , AE92 & MR2 Their products are top notch at a affordable price. Gabe isn't asking for any money down. All you need to do is send me an email saying you would like to be part of the group buy or you will buy one in the future. According to Gabe it will take 1 1/2 months to produce the product. This will give everybody time to save some money.

3 adapter plates will be made 1.6, 1.8NA & 1.8NB for 99-00 head

Price - Group buy $200 After group buy $250

T3 is giving us a great deal on pricing for velocity stacks and vacuum manifold. These prices are only good for people who are on the list for this group buy only.

Velocity stacks - $144 for a set. Available in Silver, Red, or Gold
Vacuum Manifolds - $36
UNI Velocity Stack Filters - $64

Please fill out the form and email it to garagestar@gmail.com
Name -
Email -
Forum & Forum Name -
Motor - 1.6, 1.8NA or 1.8NB

***Savings Breakdown***

Adapter plate Group Buy Price - $200 regular price $250
Velocity stacks Group Buy Price - $144 regular price $180
Vacuum Manifolds Group Buy Price - $36 regular price $50
UNI Velocity Stack Filters Group Buy Price - $64 regular price $80
FYI If product is shipped in California there will be tax.

Total for regular price $560
Total for Group Buy Price $444
Total Savings $116

Thanks
Ken

Not knowing anything about Toyota motors, how hard is it to get a hold of 101 ITBs? Another point would be the electronics cross over, as a few things need to be changed on the Mazda side to mate to the Toyota side, right? What can be done to address that? Interested if this is do-able, but need more info.

Rod from Tetsuya Garage is your best contact. He lives in Japan and I have purchased products from him and he ships quick and always comes up with quality products. tetsuyagarage@gmail.com . Other option is club4ag.com

To answer your question Joel, they're a PITA to get and expensive as a rule. I'd looked into using 20V ITB's on the smallport 4AGE in my Lotus replica but decided GSXR ITB's were a better option.

It's cool that TT wants to make these, but it would be better (and less expensive overall) if they made them to fit something like a GSXR throttle body that's cheaper and easier to find for the DIYer.

I checked ebay and saw some for around $390.

edit: that's for the whole motor.

I don't think finding them is the problem, but the work involved to get them to actually work.

I would be completely clueless on what to do.

They have an ITB forum on clubroadster. I've been lurking there for a while to figure out what goes into a working setup.

And you can pick up GSXR throttle bodies, which break apart into individual barrels making the manifold a lot easier to fabricate for about half that... my point stands. Or given most of your interest is from CR.net maybe you want the "coolest" solution, not the simplest/easiest one. Wouldn't be the first time.

I think one of the reasons he is using 20V itbs is because Techno Toy Tuning is so familiar with them seeing as the are mainly a corolla tuner.

I am not trying to push this setup on anyone. I am not making a single dime off this, I'm a paying customer like all of you. I don't work for Techno Toy Tuning. I am trying to get T3 to create an alternative to what is out there. I have tried to convince T3 to make an adapter plate for 5 years. If we can get the people we need interested in the product they will produce it. I don't want the "coolist" solution. I want quality. If you feel the need to post on this thread about how it's easier or simpler with GSXR throttle bodies go make a thread about it. I am sure a MOD here will create a DYI section for you. Also post your 4ag DIY throttle bodies on club4ag. I am sure they will be interested in it. I would be interested in it since I am putting a 4ag in my Starlet in the next few months.

Why can't everyone just get along we all like cars just because someone wants to do something different from what you would do why do you have to piss on it? Do you feel better after that?

I wasn't "pissing" on it, I was trying to help people do something a simpler, easier, cheaper way... but hey if people want to do stuff the difficult, expensive way it's their time and money.

I'd also note the last thing in this thread before today was over a week ago... not sure why you're getting pissy about it now.
